The location: centre of Barnstaple, a few yards from bus station, walking distance from railways station. Good bistro (The Bank) in the same building. Traditional decor of the accomodation but with some improvements in the bedroom I was given, particularly the double glazed, double windows. Nice surprise for a single occupant : it was a double bedroom of confortable size and with a even more confortable bed. Conclusion: Value vs price
The bathroom should require some updating: for instance a mixer type tap for the very traditional basin. The manual in the bedroom should mention which switch activates the towels drying rack.
I'm sorry I don't know how to answer the previous question. We came because it was a base for a visit to Rosemoor, the only one of the rhs gardens that we had not visited. It worked perfectly for us and we enkoyed the reception we received and the excellent service from all the staff. It is unlikely that we will come again, because of our ages and because we have achieved what we set out for. Many thanks.
Nice hotel and facilities.
The hotel is in centre of town and the noise outside from nearby pubs was too much.and prevented sleep into the early hours. My room had a portable air con unit which was also noisey. My stay was on a Saturday night, so I don't know if weeknights might be quieter. They need better soundproofed windows.
good room, excellent facilities, creaking floorboards notwithstanding, Excellent breakfast
pitty noise from next room, flushing toilet, running water, [guest being sick!] , spoilt our stay,
the staff were very friendly, it was right in the centre of barnstaple, it is a little noisy as they had a disco on sat night, but that all stopped at midnight. the hotel was as good as the pictures on the website i would definately stay there again
nothing, the two nights we did stay there were excellent
Old world charm efficient friendly staff, hotel and rooms very clean, excellent breakfast relaxing atmosphere Would definately stay again
The location was very convenient for the theatre, room very comfortable, food good staff helpful.
The hotel staff were very helpful and always had a smile on their face. When there was something extra I needed it was sorted stright away.
The sitting room was a little cold and could have been warmer.
Friendly helpful staff, good food and a well run hotel
Shame Wi-Fi not free
A great welcome; comfortable room and quiet for a town centre location; lovely breakfast cooked to order. A real find and a refreshing change from very generic chain hotels.
The Night porter was excellent, I had an early start before breakfast service started and he set everything up, he went the extra mile
The room was heated to 27c far too warm
Staff were very professional, food was good, good location
The Hotel certainly exceeded my expectations. A comfortable bar, good food and a very good breakfast. I will certainly book it again if I stay in Barnstaple
It was cheap, cheerful and well located
the helpfulness of staff, and the overall cleanliness was above the usual standards .
there was nothing that was below standard
